Over het nieuwe werken

HNW bij UVIT: samenwerken en kennis delen

Verzekeraar UVIT had een bezettingsgraad van werkplekken van soms minder dan 60 procent. Tegelijkertijd was er door de groei van de organisatie een enorme druk om meer werkplekken in te richten. De organisatie was rijp voor Het Nieuwe Werken.

'Het kantoor moest een echte ontmoetingsplek zijn', zegt Marius Alkema, programmamanager Het Nieuwe Werken, in nummer 4 van Facto Magazine. Hij ging met facility manager Jaap Berghoef aan de slag met het werkconcept en de inrichting van het nieuwe hoofdkantoor van de verzekeraar.

Fusieorganisatie
UVIT ontstond in de periode 2005 tot 2007 als fusieorganisatie van verzekeraars Univé, VGZ, IZA en Trias. Om de efficiency te verbeteren, werd al snel besloten de zeventien toenmalige kantoren terug te brengen tot vijf, waaronder een nieuw hoofdkantoor in Arnhem.

Het nieuwe hoofdkantoor, met als geplande opleverdatum september 2009, moest plaats bieden aan 1200 tot 1400 fte's. Na een korte zoektocht viel het oog op een nieuwbouwpand, pal gelegen aan station Arnhem Centraal.

Samenwerken
In het nieuwe hoofdkantoor staan samenwerken en kennis delen centraal. Alkema: 'Iedereen kan overal werken, thuis, onderweg, in een koffiebar, in een hamburgertent, het maakt niet uit, maar het hoofdkantoor moet mensen in staat stellen om elkaar te ontmoeten, om kennis te delen, om samen te werken; daar zit de toegevoegde waarde.'

Dit heeft geleid tot ontmoetingspleinen, een diversiteit aan werkplektypen, huiskamers, mobiele toolkits, hippe loungeplekken, koffiecorners en meerdere cateringoutlets. In het artikel in Facto Magazine leggen Alkema en Berghoef uit hoe dit mensen 'verleidt' om er te gaan werken.

Introductie
Het Nieuwe Werken is in een korte tijd geïntroduceerd bij UVIT. Alkema en Berghoef hadden precies een jaar om het ontwerp te maken, het gebouw in te richten en de medewerkers uit te leggen wat Het Nieuwe Werken betekent. Ze hebben alles in één keer heel goed uitgelegd aan de Raad van Bestuur, niet alleen qua inrichting maar ook qua nieuwe manier van werken.

Om de overgang soepel te laten verlopen, zijn twee soorten workshops georganiseerd. De eerste workshop was op teamniveau en had een HR-insteek en in de andere workshops was het onderwerp het gebruik van de nieuwe technologie. 'Niet iedereen weet hoe dat werkt, dat moet je goed uitleggen', aldus Alkema.

Opbrengsten
In het interview vertellen de programma- en facilitymanager ook wat Het Nieuwe Werken tot nu toe opgeleverd heeft. Het gaat onder meer om besparingen op kantoorruimte (12.000 vierkante meter in plaats van 22.000 vierkante meter), een verlaging van het ziekteverzuim en een hogere productiviteit.
