Secretaresse wijst manager de weg naar HNW

Uit diverse onderzoeken blijkt dat medewerkers staan te trappelen om te beginnen met Het Nieuwe Werken. Vooral een betere balans tussen werk en privé is wat medewerkers aanspreekt. Veel managers houden echter de boot af. Uit angst om de controle te verliezen over medewerkers die niet van 9 tot 5 achter hun bureau zitten en dat medewerkers het wel zonder hun manager redden? Want tja, wat is dan nog zijn rol?

Uit de vele reacties die ik kreeg na de publicatie van mijn boek Adieu Secretaresse, Hello Assistant blijkt dat veel secretaresses ook in de categorie vallen van 'ik kan niet wachten tot Het Nieuwe Werken in onze organisatie wordt ingevoerd'. Zij willen zich verder ontwikkelen. Ze zien de taken die blijven liggen en ze willen meer samenwerkingspartner zijn dan uitvoerende kracht.

Velen van hen lopen daarbij tegen een muur. En dat is niet alleen jammer, er schuilt ook een gevaar in. Niet voor de secretaresse, zij gaat op zoek naar een werkgever waar de 'secretaresse nieuwe stijl' wel serieus genomen wordt. Wanneer de talenten steeds schaarser worden, vissen de werkgevers die doof en blind blijven voor de vernieuwingen achter het net. En dan kunnen zij de concurrentiestrijd niet bolwerken, simpelweg omdat er geen talenten meer in huis zijn die zorgen dat de organisatie effectief en efficiënt draait.

Deze werkgevers moeten we stimuleren door hen aan te spreken op hun beleid. En we moeten inzichtelijk maken wat het oplevert om volgens de principes van Het Nieuwe Werken te gaan werken. Daar hebben we ambassadeurs voor nodig: medewerkers die het goede voorbeeld geven en met kleine stapjes het verschil gaan maken. Juist de secretaresse kan hierin als verbindende schakel van grote betekenis zijn: de secretaresse wijst de managers de weg naar Het Nieuwe Werken.

In mijn workshops heb ik gemerkt dat secretaresses staan te trappelen om te vernieuwen. En ze hebben invloed naar managers en medwerkers!
